Lycett threatens cash in Beckham’s Qatar deal ultimatum

imogenballer
Joe Lycett, has threatened to shred ten thousand pounds if David Beckham doesn’t turn down his Qatar ambassador deal.

The comedian said: “If you end your relationship with Qatar, I’ll donate this ten grand of my own money, that’s a grand for every million you’re reportedly getting, to charities that support queer people in football, however if you do not, by midday next Sunday, I will throw this money into a shredder.”

Samuel Tims, the founder of Villa and Proud said: “it one hundred percent needs to be done.”

The ultimatum comes after outcries from the LGBT+ community on social media, as Qatar was named as the world’s most dangerous place to be queer.

Queer communities in Qatar face punishments ranging from imprisonment to the death penalty.

Beckham is recognised as a supporter and ally of the LGBT community across the world, having done photoshoots for magazines such as Attitude, and has talked publicly about his gay fans, yet all this has been challenged as the 47 year old promoted Qatar as tourist destination and described it as “perfection”.

The footballer’s fans took to Twitter mainly to express their disappointment in him, many calling it a disgusting decision.

Lycett has said he will be shredding the money on November 20th and will be live streaming the event on https://benderslikebeckham.com/ that has a live countdown to Sunday.
