Students were forced to wait in 40 minute long queue for ID cards in Birmingham City University due to online roll-out disappointment.
Throughout Welcome Week and the first official week of university, disgruntled students lost lecture time waiting for their picture to be taken for ID cards, resulting in wasted classroom time and disrupted lectures.
Students said they had been waiting for over forty minutes, in some cases, for ID cards, one saying: “It’s a joke, I submitted a photo online before I arrived at uni and the site kept glitching”.
Many were in agreement with issues they faced when uploading photos or trying to ‘digitally enroll’, saying the site was “confusing”, whilst other students complained that the line inconvenienced them as it infringed upon the study space in the Curzon building downstairs, affecting their productivity and disrupting the peace.
The online enrolment left much to be desired for students this year, and it left us wondering how this issue could have been avoided.
